Bloody Xmas and more...

Merry Xmas and happy Boxing Day to all our readers and followers; hope you had a fun-filled celebration. Christmas is traditionally a time to feast with friends and family, a time to forget old wounds and forge new relationships, a time to remember the love of God through the gift of His son. But it was never so for some people.

Christmas celebration was never to be for some 94 people who lost their lives to different road accidents in five days of yuletide.  FRSC has blamed the crashes and the deaths to the rush and over speeding motorists.

But who shall we blame for the death of 12 people who were brutally murdered on Xmas eve during church services in Yobe and Maiduguri. Just as families that were bereaved during the celebration last year were offering prayers for the soul of the departed, the evil doers felt they could wreck more havoc and they did.

The unknown gunmen killed six people including the pastor of a Church of Christ in Nations, (COCIN) in Potiskum and set the building on fire.
Worshipers were also attacked at the First Baptist Church in Maiduguri, where a deacon and five church members were killed.

The act was condemned by the Pope who has described it as “savage acts of terrorism”. The CAN president also spoke from the comfort of his jet too, describing the act as a “bestial act”.

The story would have been worse had the JTF not conducted house-to-house search in Kano where they discovered and detonated explosives planted in strategic locations within the metropolis.

While all these happen, one would wonder why thePresident appears indolent, Goodluck Jonathan has said this was because of his resolve to avoid taking hasty decisions that may be fraught with mistakes and which might be more difficult to correct. CPC have a different view though, the opposition party feels the president can no longer be trusted.

The president rightly noted that we “build walls and live as prisoners because of the criminal activities of few”. And so it was that some LASTMA officers allegedly murdered a 54 year old commercial bus driver Isaac Popoola who had planned to celebrate the Xmas with his family and friends. The agency has dissociated itself from the act of its men.

Family crisis: President Goodluck Jonathan has told Bamanga Tukur to Stop Congress and all actions on Adamawa PDP.

Spotlight: Although most politicians love the spotlight, attending functions and smiling for the cameras, investigations has shown that their is a particular governor that has been avoiding this for too long. Chime has attended only 17 events in 5 years!

And if anyone thinks the last will be heard with FG's readiness to pay N170billion severance to PHCN workers, the workers have said the sum is not enough. So, Please Hold Candle Now. The workers may be right to fight since only 667 firms have life insurance for their employees, out of several thousands in the country.
